CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield County man is speaking out following the death of an inmate, reports of multiple overdoses, and recent charges filed against a woman for smuggling drugs into the county jail.

At this week’s Clearfield County Commissioners meeting, Charlie Lombardo said the county jail is supposed to be a “safe haven” for inmates, “but the way it is now, you may as well put a drive-up window in for them to get their drugs.”

Lombardo also commented that changes need to be made so those who go to jail “do time, not drugs all the time.”

Last week, charges were filed against 38-year-old Angela Ricketts for smuggling fentanyl and other drugs into the jail in July.

Also in July, 31-year old inmate Kaitlyn Evans died of fentanyl poisoning, and two other inmates survived drug overdoses.
