CLEARFIELD – After pleading guilty to animal cruelty and neglect charges this week, a Clearfield County man has been sentenced to serve six months to two years in state prison.

According to court documents, 61-year-old Darrell Kent of Morrisdale was accused of not seeking medical help for his dog for nearly a month after dozens of porcupine quills became embedded in her face.

Kent was also ordered to pay more than $2,000 in restitution to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and he is not allowed to own any pets in the future.

Kent is currently jailed in Centre County, where he faces another sentence for a probation revocation.
