Clearfield County Man Receives State Prison Sentence

SHARE NOW

CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield County man, one of five men accused of conspiring to assault and rob a man using baseball bats, has pleaded guilty to modified charges.

According to court records, 35-year-old Paul Hoyt of Curwensville was sentenced to six months to two years in state prison on charges of criminal mischief, drug possession, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Last fall, Clearfield Regional Police filed charges against Hoyt, as well as John Irwin of DuBois, Taylor Wisor and Jason Sipe of Hyde; and Bradley Maines of Woodland. All five are alleged to have attacked a Hyde man with baseball bats, and then stole his pickup truck. One of the defendants reportedly told investigators that they targeted the victim because they wanted to steal drugs from him.

Last month, Irwin pleaded guilty and was sentenced to serve three to six years in state prison. Sipe, Maines, and Wisor have signed plea agreements. All three are scheduled to be sentenced in September.
