CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Jail’s acting Warden, Susan McQuillen, has put a hold on the jail’s work release program, because contraband has again been found in the facility.

At this week’s county Prison Board meeting, McQuillen said she believed the contraband was smuggled in by an inmate who was working outside of the jail. The work release program will stay on hold until the jail’s staff has been trained to operate the newly-installed body scanner, which has been inspected and approved.

McQuillen also reported that staffing remains an issue of concern with the jail down seven corrections officers. Despite being short on personnel, a project at the Clearfield County Jail has begun which will replace all cell locks. One block of the facility has been completed.
