CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield County couple facing 36 felony charges of cruelty to animals pleaded guilty to five misdemeanors each this week, and they will not see jail time.
According to court documents, 37-year-old Thomas Rowles and 33-year-old Ana Houston were accused of neglecting at least 100 cats at their Hyde apartment in 2022. Police and members of animal control enforcement allegedly found seven boxes containing the remains of three dozen dead cats outside the couple’s front door, and discovered the couple had buried others nearby in a wooded area.
Rowles and Houston were sentenced to 10 years probation, and they are not allowed to have any pets during that time.
