HARRISBURG – The Clearfield County Conservation District will receive more than $400,000 in state grants to help fund two of its projects.
The money will come from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Growing Green Plus grant program. Approved projects are those which protect waterways and watersheds, reclaim abandoned mine sites, or reclaim and plug abandoned oil and gas wells.
Clearfield County’s two projects intend to implement stream restoration by installing agricultural best management practices on farms, and start a regional technical assistance program that creates public/private partnerships and develops shovel-ready projects.
The projects in Clearfield County are two of 15 in Pennsylvania’s north-central region that have been awarded a total of nearly $2.5-million.
