Clearfield County Commissioners vote to increase wages for prison guards

Clearfield – A deal has been made with prison guards at the Clearfield County Jail.

The County Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a tentative four-year contract which covers 28 prison employees and will run to the end of 2025.

Terms of the agreement includes wage increases of $2 per hour in year one, $1 per hour in year two, and 80-cents per hour in years three and four.

It also increases the starting wage to $15 per hour.

There are changes to health insurance benefits in the new contract including a spousal exclusion policy and a deductible.

The County Commissioners are now looking to reach an agreement with the county’s court-related, court-appointed, and residual employee groups.
