Clarion man loses $1,000 to Publisher’s Clearing House scam

SHARE NOW

Clarion, PA – Once again, yet another Publisher’s Clearing House gift card scam.

In this most recent case on March 5, a 49-year-old Clarion man was told by a scam artist that he had won a new vehicle through Publisher’s Clearing House but needed to pay money for processing fees.

The man loaded $500 each on two separate Visa gift cards, then gave the card numbers to the scammer, losing $1,000.

The investigation continues.

Police are urging you to not believe any phone call that sounds too good to be true.

If someone tells you you won a contest that you don’t remember entering, offers to give you a large amount of money for a small payment first, or threatens you into providing financial or personal information, do not believe them and just hang up.
