Salem Township, PA – A Clarion County woman lost $700 while trying to purchase a cat online.
On May 1, the unnamed 41-year-old Lamartine woman was attempting to purchase a cat from what unfortunately turned out to be a scam website.
She sent $700 in American Express pre-paid cards but did not receive the animal.
Police warn to always be suspicious of anyone who asks for payments specifically in gift cards, which are more difficult to track after the scam.
