DUBOIS – The defense team for the City of DuBois is responding to a lawsuit filed by a former City of DuBois Police Chief.
According to court documents, former Police Chief Blaine Clark has been seeking damages and lost wages tallying up to $300,000 dollars, claiming that his due process and Whistleblower law were allegedly violated and that his contract was breached.
The former Police Chief claimed this all occurred when he was suddenly placed on administrative leave and subsequently let go by the City last Spring.
At this time, the City’s defense team says that the municipality has a right to get rid of any public employee as they are an “employee-at-will”.
The defense team also argues that the City is responsible for the public’s well being and who would be the best fit to serve the public’s needs.
