DUBOIS – The City of DuBois will soon be upgrading softball fields, basketball courts and provide inclusive playground equipment with a new $3.5 million loan.

Out of that $3.5 million, the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is funding $1.2 million for improvements to DuBois Memorial Park.

According to interim City Manager Chris Nasuti, the loan will have no impact on the 2023 City budget.

Mayor Ed Walsh also discussed the impact that several sports’ tournaments have on the DuBois community.

Walsh said that while they are working on a complete financial analysis, these tournaments help bring “a lot of money” into the local community, including an estimated $2.4 million in the past six years.
