DUBOIS – Dozens of police officers and state troopers from across the area came to the DuBois Walmart Monday evening to do some Christmas shopping with local kids.
25 kids each armed with a $200 dollar shopping spree took our area law enforcement officers throughout the DuBois Walmart picking out whatever their hearts desired.
Trooper Paige Pifer, organizer of the Shop With A Cop event, believes that the experience for both the children and police officers makes the event worth it.
“It’s just a very rewarding experience,“ explained Trooper Pifer. “I started doing it in the DuBois area, this is our fourth year now. It’s just nice to see the cops and the kids bond.”
Trooper Pifer also told us that the area school counselors choose the children who participated in the event.
All funds for Shop With A Cop were donated from area businesses, due to the overwhelming support, each child had $200 dollars to spend. Almost double what they had last year.
