Changes coming for antlerless deer license applications

HARRISBURG — If you are a deer hunter, expect some changes next year in how you apply for Pennsylvania antlerless deer licenses.

It was made official Friday by the Pennsylvania Game Commission that legislation enacted in Harrisburg last week will allow hunters to buy antlerless licenses through the HuntFishPA online licensing services. The law takes effect with the 2023-24 license year, and antlerless licenses will be available for purchase online or in-person at any license issuing agent.

The whole process of mailing pink envelopes to county treasurers is about to become a thing of the past. Many sportsman groups as well as the Game Commission saw the pink envelope system as a barrier to hunting participation, especially in recruiting new and younger hunters.
