Lawrence Township, PA – A woman’s car caught fire on Interstate 80 recently near Clearfield.

62-year-old Gail Gruendler from Pittsburgh had been driving westbound on I-80 near mile marker 114 on April 3.

She pulled over the the side of the road because her Hyundai Sante Fe had begun to leak gas into the engine compartment, causing a fire to erupt.

She was able to escape the vehicle before the flames got too bad, and she was not injured.

The vehicle, however, quickly became fully engulfed in flames and was a total loss.

Lawrence Township Volunteer Fire Department says that I-80 westbound was shut down briefly to respond to the fire on Sunday and then was reopened.
