BUTLER – Butler County Community College has been gifted $3 million to establish two new scholarship funds at the college.
According to BC3, former state senator Tim Shaffer left half of his estate to the BC3 Education Foundation in order to create scholarships in memory of his parents and brother.
The donation, which is reportedly the largest in BC3 history, will help students pay for their college tuition.
BC3 President Dr. Nick Neupauer said Shaffer loved the mission of the college and “absolutely loved” the students.
BC3 also reported that the scholarship criteria has yet to be determined, but they are working to ensure the scholarship “properly honors Tim Shaffer and benefits as many students as possible.”
