BROOKVILLE – A 59-year-old Brookville woman has been charged with a misdemeanor and summary offense for causing over $3,000 in damages to a police vehicle and then driving away from the scene.
Brookville Police say Janet Nelson was backing out of a parking space at Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital on January 16th, when her vehicle hit the driver’s side door of a police cruiser.
Following impact, Nelson allegedly continued to drive out of the parking lot and towards South Main Street before the police officer pulled her over.
Nelson reportedly told the officer she didn’t see the police vehicle, that she thought she actually hit a guardrail, and that it was her first accident ever.
Her preliminary hearing in Jefferson County magisterial court is scheduled for March 9th.
