BROOKVILLE – Following up its multiple scam investigations over the past two months, the Brookville Police Department is offering some helpful reminders.
Police departments will never ask for money over the phone or ask for gift cards.
If you are ever in doubt about a fundraising effort, call the police department or county offices to confirm.
Never give out personal or banking information over the phone or by email to someone whose identity you cannot verify.
According to the Brookville Police, recent scams they have investigated are mostly targeting the elderly and juveniles.
