Pine Creek Township, PA – A Brookville man had to be flown by medical helicopter to the hospital after a crash on Interstate 80.
36-year-old Michael Hardenburg from Brookville had been driving near mile marker 87 of I-80 westbound in Pine Creek Township just before 2 p.m. on March 2.
State Police say Hardenburg either fell asleep or had a medical emergency while driving.
He lost control, went off the roadway, and struck a tree head-on.
Although Hardenburg is listed as having worn a seat belt during the time of the crash, police say he was ejected from his Jeep Wrangler.
Hardenburg was flown by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Altoona for injuries of unknown severity. There is no word on his current condition.
