Brookville, PA – State Police now say that a fire on Western Avenue in Brookville that displaced a family and killed five pets was caused by arson, although the suspect is still unknown.

The house fire happened on New Year’s Day around 7 p.m., displacing a family of five people and killing the family’s pets.

The family, Nate and Cassie Davis along with their three children, were not at home during the time of the fire.

A GoFundMe page was started for the family, and so far they have more than doubled their goal of $10,000.

Due to the heavy damage that the fire caused, investigators had a tough time in determining a cause. However, the fire marshal, state police, and Brookville Police and Fire Department have determined that the fire was intentionally set by someone.

Police do not have a suspect yet.
