BROOKVILLE – A Brockway woman has been jailed on charges of theft and exploitation of a care-dependent person for allegedly stealing nearly $200,000 from an 86-year-old man.
Brookville Police accuse 55-year-old Kelly Jo Wright of transferring the money from the victim’s account to her own credit union account in April.
In May, Wright reportedly told a representative of the Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging that the money would be cashed out and returned to the victim, but it never was, and the man has since passed away.
Wright was arraigned on three felony charges on Tuesday.
She is in the Jefferson County Jail with bail set at $200,000, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 12th.
