Brockway, PA – The Brockway Borough Council is ready to tackle a water problem plaguing the McCullough Avenue area.
Water has been flowing into neighbors’ yards and houses, and the borough council started a plan to work with the residents two years ago. That plan has been mostly worked out, the residents have agreed to move forward, and work will begin as soon as possible.
The council gave a plaque to student representative Salem Murray. Murray graduated this year, and has missed the last couple of meetings due to the COVID-19 restrictions. While she was able, she made sure to come to every borough meeting and report on school activities. Council President Chris “Smoke” Benson said he was sorry her senior year was shortened, but the council was thankful for her dedication.
Marla Mancuso was hired as a full-time billing clerk. The council also re-hired part-time officer Mike Stutsman at the meeting. The borough is working on a new memorandum of understanding with the police department, and more information will be available once the police officers agree to it.
Mayor Bill Hrinya said that he is disappointed that the traditional July 4 activities will not happen this year, but hopes everyone has a good holiday. They will still be putting off their usual grand firework display.
The next meeting will be Aug. 6.
