Brockway School Taxes Increasing

The Brockway School Board has approved their budget for the 2025-26 school year. Now adopted, it is possible for school taxes to increase.

Currently expenses are in the red for the school, going up six percent from last year to a total of $20,157,218 dollars. Now, as Superintendent Brian Mulhollan explains, taxes may rise to combat this budget.

“Obviously with being in the red, and looking at how best to approach that, it was looked at a possible tax increase for next year,“ explained Superintendent Mulhollan. “We don’t take that lightly, we’ve only done three in the last almost 30 years. So Brockway is not historically done that without looking at that.”

With this budget, the Homestead Exclusion will have you seeing no more than a $20 dollar annual increase.

In the end, the board does not want to increase taxes. However, they say that they have a duty to uphold the sustainability of the district.
