BROCKWAY – The Brockway Area School District is planning to add a Braille Embosser with the goal of including all students in daily activities.
The piece of equipment from ViewPlus will allow text to be translated through a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connector.
According to Brockway Superintendent, Brian Mulhollan, this system is needed for a current student and will allow them to be more involved in educational tasks.
“Our Director of Special Education indicated that there was a need for braille to be able to be put into English,“ explained Superintendent Mullollan. “So that would allow for our teachers, as well as the family, to be able to understand what is being typed out as it is being put into a form for the students to understand. To allow for a wider array of people to understand what is being typed up and hopefully allow them to learn it as well.”
The ViewPlus Braille Embosser and 4-year warranty will ultimately cost the district $19,338 dollars funded through ACCESS funds.
