Brockway, PA – The Brockway School Board saw some possible designs for a proposed expansion of the district’s multi-purpose room.
Amos Rudolph showed the board some mock-ups of a metal building that will be connected to the current multi-purpose room. It will provide extra practice and competition space for sports teams, a place for the elementary school to have recess during inclement weather, and might even be available for the public to use.
The proposal is estimated at around $1,178,000. In addition, moving the tennis courts is projected to cost $267,000. The district hopes the community will come to the February meeting to ask questions about the project. Superintendent Jeff Vizza said that he hoped that a decision would be made in the March meeting.
After the presentation, the district went into its regular meeting.
The school district received a clean audit for the 2020-2021 school year. It also ended the school year with a surplus of $34,000.
Kyle Frost will come to the district as an unpaid psychiatric intern during the spring and fall semesters of 2022. The district also added Donna Stenger as a cafeteria worker and hired various softball coaches.
At the end of the meeting Vizza thanked the school board for working to keep the district running. He also thanked school and community members for generosity related to two fundraising events… the We Care program for Brockway families and the more than $6,600 donation to Make-A-Wish fundraiser.
