Brockway honors wrestler Anthony Glasl, announces Family Music Night


Brockway, PA – A new plaque is going up in Brockway to honor wrestler Anthony Glasl on his record number of wrestling wins! Brockway also announced a new Family music Night for second through sixth graders.

During its March meeting, the Brockway school board set graduation for the Class of 2020 for May 21 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Along with graduation, the approved the 2020-2021 school calendar and revised the 2019-2020 calendar to make April 14 a snow make-up day.

The board also accepted the retirements of four longtime staff members, including the assistant maintenancesupervisor Darcy Fields. The board then approved the hiring of Fields’ replacement, Matthew Baxter.

Elementary Music Teacher Christina Myers invited the board to a Family Music Night at the school from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Students in grades 2-6 got invitations to bring their families to try out the instruments at the school and have fun making music together.

The school board approved multiple field trips for the remainder of the year, but they also unanimously passed the ski club’s annual trip to Okemo Ski Resort in Vermont.

During the meeting, Superintendent Jeff Vizza presented senior Anthony Glasl with a plaque honoring him as the current record holder for Brockway wrestling wins. Vizza praised Glasl, who is also a student representative for the school board.

The school board will meet again April 14 at 7 p.m.
