Brockway, PA – Brockway Borough is breaking with tradition and moving its Halloween celebration from a Sunday to a Saturday.
The one-time move is because October 31 is a Saturday this year, and the borough council feels that celebrating on the day would be a welcome change.
Mayor Bill Hrinya said that he expects the community will show the same community spirit that marks every year.
The council also got an update on the volunteer fire department’s plans for Fire Prevention Week. The fire department has several events slated, starting Sunday with the dedication of the department’s side-by-side vehicle and the trailer used to haul it. The fire department will be holding safety presentations in community daycares as well as the elementary school’s kindergarten classes.
The council appointed new members to the tax assessor and auditor positions as well as the zoning board. They also hired two new crossing guards.
The Brockway Borough Council’s next meeting is November 5.
