The event organizers got support from Brockway Mayor Bill Hrinya, the borough council, and businesses in Brockway.The event was planned in conjunction with local leaders and businesses along Main Street. Paesano’s Pizza and Carnisali’s Bar and Grill sold by the slice, and Carnisali’s loaned their speakers for the event. Over 20 businesses supported the event, and Advanced Disposal donated garbage cans.The event was designed to be family-friendly and not a march.People lined Main Street with signs, and organizers had activities for children, including coloring books and sidewalk chalk.The event involved speakers, singing, some chanting, and a candlelight vigil at the end.Jo Stoneberg said that the goal was to focus on inclusivity and diversity, even in small towns like Brockway. She hopes that an approach of positivity and education will help make the country a more-inclusive place to be. The event had speeches from Nikki Clark, Suzane Buttery, and Rev, Christopher McCloskey, who said that the message of justice is one that is found in the Bible.Connect FM · Rev Christopher McCloskey – Brockway diversity event After the candlelight vigil, the group sang “This Little Light of Mine” and wrapped up the event.
