Brockway, PA – The Brockway Borough Council has a message for people driving through town: slow down.
The council responded to a resident’s request to add a “Watch Children” sign to Maple Street. The police department is stepping up patrols to address speed.
With school in session, Council President Chris “Smoke” Benson asked that people driving through town pay attention to the speed limit.

During the regular meeting on Thursday, the council ratified a tree-cutting project around Taylor Memorial Park. The council made the decision to take down the trees as the park revitalization project was ready to work in that area. Work in the park is continuing into the next phase and the workers will be moving to the other side of 7th Ave.
The fire department responded to 11 alarms since the last meeting. They will be selling donuts Saturday and are gearing up for Fire Prevention Week, which is October 4-10.
The student representatives returned to the council meetings. Delaney Wineberg is now the senior representative and Morgan Carnahan was approved as the junior representative. The two students report to the council about events happening at the high school.
The borough office will be closed October 23 for boxing up files. The council meets again October 1.
