Brockway, PA – Want to honor a veteran in the Brockway community? The Brockway American Legion Auxiliary is offering the chance to have a banner dedicated to a veteran.
CLICK HERE for more info, to see sample banners, and to fill out your application.
The cost for a banner is $125. You’ll get a banner hung up in town, which will be on display from Memorial Day until Veterans Day, plus a yard sign.
The banners are 24×36. They include a mounting bracket and a 12×18 yard banner. Additional yard banners can be purchased for $10 each.
If you would like a banner, you will need to have the payment of $125, a copy of the DD-214 discharge papers (especially if verifying things like Purple Heart or Medal of Honor), and the highest-quality picture of the service member that you can find. If the banner is for a current military member, you will need to bring proof of where they are currently stationed.
The response has been incredible. They have 170 done already and reservations made for 50 more. Because there will be so many banners, they’re asking permission to hang them not just on Brockway Borough signs but also on utility poles and poles on the streets leading in and out of Brockway.
You can sign up at the Brockway American Legion from 10 until noon on Saturdays, Feb. 8 and 22, and from 1 until 3 p.m. on Wednesdays, Feb. 5, 12, and 19.
The final day to reserve a banner is Feb. 22!
