Brockway, PA – About a week about the Brockway Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Committee decided to cancel the Tour de Brockway bike race for this year, they reportedly have now also cancelled the parade.
However, the situation might not be entirely hopeless for people who want to celebrate the 4th of July in Brockway. Certain parts of the annual tradition could remain, with some adjustments for safety.
According to their website, the committee is still preparing for this year’s celebration and will make any decisions about the Brockway Old-Fashioned 4th of July events on or before June 1.
Listen to the interview with organizer Jeff Gankosky.

The Fourth of July Committee is still in the preparation phase for this year’s celebration. Committee Chairs, all 20 of them, are continuing to follow their plans. However, due to COVID 19, our preparations have become somewhat of a challenge. Due to preparation time for some events, a decision on what we can schedule will be made on or before June 1, 2020. We are looking forward to offering many of your favorites as in year’s past.
Donation requests for businesses were mailed out in February with the individual patron’s request mailed in April. The Committee encourages both businesses and individuals, if not already mailed, to make your generous contribution as those contributions determine the scale and scope of the celebration.
The Committee is hoping by June 1st to have further guidance from the governor and local officials to aide in our decisions. Safety has been and always will be a top priority. Our goal is to have a great Independence Day Celebration with a spectacular firework display to conclude the day.
