Union Township, PA – A brick fell from the back of a truck, striking another vehicle but thankfully not injuring anyone.

A Ram 2500 pickup truck had been carrying bricks on Oct. 23 while traveling through Union Township, Jefferson County, on Interstate 80 near mile marker 72.8.

The truck merged into the right lane in front of a Volvo tractor-trailer, causing a brick to come off of the pickup truck and hit the roadway.

Pieces of the brick hit the tractor-trailer, causing damage to the front end.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, 45-year-old Valerie Hartley from Sykesville, was not injured.

She drove for about 20 more miles to exit 53 before pulling over to assess the damage.

Although there was only minor damage done to a vehicle in this case, unsecure loads and loose objects have the potential to cause serious injuries. If you’re hauling something in the bed of a truck, please make sure that it’s secure.
