Former City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio was charged with 13 more felonies and 10 misdemeanors in front of Justice Carmine Prestia from Center County today.
Suplizio was previously accused of making over $620,000 in fraudulent charges while he was the city manager. Today he was charged with stealing over $369,000 from public accounts. He’s also accused tax fraud with public accounts totaling over $181,000 and over $550,000 in fraudulent transactions from public accounts in addition to previous charges. Bail was set at $100,000 unsecured and Suplizio was ordered to surrender his passport.
Who delivered the Community Fund money from the DuBois United Way to City Solicitor Toni Cherry? According to an affidavit from today’s hearing, former City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio did. A United Way employee discovered 4 lock boxes in the ceiling at the United Way building. The money was found in September of 2022. Then, in December of 2022 the money was no longer in the lock box. In May of 2023, DuBois Solicitor Toni Cherry delivered $93,920 cash in a gift bag to the City of DuBois for safe keeping. Cherry said the money was from the Community Fund and it had been at the United Way building.
