DUBOIS – January has been designated the National Volunteer Blood Donor Month. It’s a timely focus since the American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency blood shortage. There was a 7,000-unit shortfall in blood donations between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and the nation is facing the lowest number of people giving blood in 20 years.

But you can help make a local difference today – there are two blood drives in DuBois and Reynoldsville. The American Legion on Liberty Boulevard in DuBois hosts a blood drive today from Noon to 5pm. St. Mary’s Church on Main Street in Reynoldsville is also hosting a blood drive today from 12pm until 5:30pm.
