Big Run woman loses $7,750 in phone scam

Big Run, PA – A Big Run woman lost almost $7,800 in a phone scam recently.

State Police in Punxsutawney say it happened around noon on Tuesday when the 69-year-old woman received a call from an unknown person claiming to be a representative from Microsoft.

The scam artists asked the woman for her personal information and was able to take $7,750 from her.

If you receive any kind of phone call that you weren’t expecting and they ask you for money or your personal or financial information, it’s a strong sign of a scam.

If someone claims to be from a company and calls you, hang up because they’re likely lying.

If you’re still worried that it might have been a legitimate call, you can call the company on its official phone number and ask them.
