SHARE NOW

BIG RUN – Felony child endangerment charges have been filed against a Big Run woman for not acting on behalf of a young girl who claimed she had been inappropriately touched for years, and then raped.

According to a State Police report, 36-year-old Melissa Sest refused to believe the 10-year-old girl, and allegedly called her a liar. When the victim reported the rape to a school social worker in 2023, a follow-up investigation led to the arrest of 42-year-old Michael Sest on charges of sexual assault and child rape. Police say the victim tried to tell Melissa Sest multiple times what Michael was doing to her, but Melissa failed to act on behalf of the young girl and protect her.

Melissa Sest is being held in the Jefferson County Jail with bail set at $50,000. Michael Sest is also jailed in Jefferson County in lieu of $70,000 bail
