DUBOIS – Dozens of local Firefighters turned out to Monday night’s DuBois City Council meeting demanding that one councilwoman stand down.
All of this stems from a comment made from Councilwoman Jennifer Jackson on Wednesday October 16th saying “I have three firemen that sit here and would let my building burn to the ground.”
Headed by the three DuBois Chiefs, close to one hundred Firefighters turned out to the council meeting to voice their concerns over what they claim to be a false statement.
“I believe Ms. Jackson’s personal vendetta and dislike for the fire department creates glaring issues while performing her duties as a councilwoman, that she cannot fairly and without bias make decisions about the Fire Department business at city level,“ explained Chief Leo Brooks. “I will not accept any apology by Ms. Jackson, and I’m requesting that Councilwoman Jennifer Jackson Resign from the position of City Council effective immediately.”
In the end, Council members expressed their support of the Fire Departments, the community’s efforts to come together and most importantly to move past all the hatred.
The Councilwoman was not present at the meeting being excused by the council.
