WINBURNE – A deadly Winburne fire claimed the life of the Fire Chief’s Father Christmas Eve.

At around 2:08 pm, crews with the Winburne Volunteer Fire Company, alongside other Clearfield and Centre County Fire Departments were dispatched to Coalward Street for an active structure fire.

After arrival, crews learned that one man, later identified as Clifford ‘Butch’ Dunlap, the father of the Winburne Fire Chief, was trapped inside the residence.

Crews tried to evacuate the building, however the structure became compromised and eventually collapsed, killing Dunlap.

Donations are now being collected for the family, with just over $3,000 dollars collected as of reporting. You can find more information, including how to donate here.
