DUBOIS – 70 trees were planted in the City of DuBois on Saturday.
The trees, funded by grants from Domtar, The Giant Co, and the Bare Root Program, were planted along Maple Avenue, Main Street and in the City Park.
We heard from DuBois Mayor Patrick Reasinger, who told us this initiative is to beautify the city.
“Main Street and Maple Avenue had some street projects over the last couple of years, and they cut all of the trees down,“ explained Mayor Reasinger. “So it is to just soften up the landscape and make it a lot nicer. Unfortunately it’s going to take 30 years for that to happen for us, but the grandkids will enjoy it, you don’t plant a tree for yourself, you plant a tree for your grandkids.”
Close to 90 volunteers came in from across the community to help plant the trees.
