DUBOIS – A gift of $500,000 will be given to Penn State DuBois to create a memorial scholarship for students experiencing need.

According to Penn State DuBois, Ted McKinney committed $500,000 from his estate to create an endowed undergraduate scholarship in memory of Frank Palmerino.

Palmerino was a Punxsutawney native before attending Penn State DuBois.

The college reports that both Palmerino and McKinney “came from families with limited resources” and understand how a college education can become a “financial burden.”

Because Palmerino was initially from Jefferson County, students from there will receive first preference and must demonstrate financial need.
