26-year-old man shot at cookout in Johnstown

Johnstown, PA – Making state news, a man was shot to death at a late-night cookout in Johnstown over the weekend.

It happened early Sunday morning, around 1 a.m., outside of Coopersdale Homes in Johnstown where about 75 people had gathered for a cookout.

26-year-old Armel Joe was rushed to the hospital with a single gunshot wound in his abdomen, but he suffered massive blood loss and was pronounced dead a half an hour later.

The case has been ruled a homicide.

Police don’t identify the suspect, but they do say there is no current threat to the public.
