19-year-old man breaks into Carriage Inn in Knox, steals liquor

Knox, PA – A 19-year-old Clarion County man reportedly broke into a bar, stole liquor, damaged the cash register trying to steal from it, and fled the scene.

It happened just after midnight early yesterday morning, Feb. 2, at The Carriage Inn in Knox. 19-year-old James Bashline from Knox had reportedly been there earlier during regular business hours, and he said he had unlocked one of the windows while he was there.

Bashline then crawled in through that unlocked window after the bar and restaurant had closed for the night.

He reportedly stole 13 bottles of liquor, worth a total of $260. Police say he also attempted to get into a cash register and damaged it in the process, plus he also damaged a door and a window, causing $340 worth of damages to the business. He then took the liquor and fled home.

He was later taken into custody by State Police in Clarion.

Bashline faces charges of burglary, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property, theft, underage drinking, and criminal mischief.

He’s being held in the Clarion County Jail on $20,000 bail.
