
North Mahoning Township, PA – Although the father of a 1-year-old girl who was found laying in the roadway initially reported that he thought someone in a vehicle had kidnapped her and dropped her there, it now appears that the girl had just wandered away from the home.
It happened on Coolspring Road in North Mahoning Township, Indiana County, on June 17.
When the family realized the 1-year-old girl was missing, they called police. After searching for more than 45 minutes, the girl was located uninjured about 1.5 miles east of the address, laying in the roadway.
Although the father originally said he had noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area, police have updated the report to say that there is no evidence of a vehicle being involved in the incident.
They believe the child just wandered away from the home. Thankfully, she was uninjured and was returned safely.

(Originally posted June 21) North Mahoning Township, Indiana County, PA – A 1-year-old girl was reportedly kidnapped from her home in nearby Indiana County but found uninjured laying near the roadway about 1.5 miles from her home later.
On June 17 around 1:25 p.m., a family reported that their 1-year-old girl was missing from their home along Coolspring Road in North Mahoning Township, Indiana County.
The girl was located uninjured about 1.5 miles east of the address, laying in the roadway.
The father of the girl says he noticed a teal or blue vehicle drive past their house several times that day. The only details he was able to provide was the color and that it had two people in it, one of them a woman.
He says shortly after the last time he saw that vehicle drive by, he heard his daughter screaming.
The family was unable to locate her for about 45 minutes before she was found.
It’s unclear why the 1-year-old girl was left unattended before the crime.
State Police in Punxsutawney are listing it as a kidnapping or unlawful restraint. The investigation continues.
