Brockway 6, AC Valley/Union 2 – Meeca Smith hit a triple and drove in three runs for the Lady Rovers. Bailee Carberry got the pitching win for Brockway giving up only four hits and striking out five.
Huntingdon 7, Clearfield 4
Curwensville 15, Moshannon Valley 0 – It was another big game for the Lady Tide’s Addison Siple. Her three hits drove in four runs for Curwensville, and her pitching performance included six strikeouts while yielding only one hit.
Penn State DuBois Baseball and Softball:
The Penn State DuBois baseball team split its final doubleheader of the regular season at Houghton College Tuesday. Penn State DuBois won the first game, 16-9; but fell in the second game, 14-2. The PSUAC Baseball Championship Series begins at Showers Field in DuBois Friday afternoon.
The regular season also concluded Tuesday for Penn State DuBois softball with two wins over Penn State Scranton, 14-2 and 11-0. The PSUAC Softball Championship Series will begin at Heindl Field in DuBois on Friday.
Pittsburgh Pirates:
Chicago Cubs bats were hot … the Pittsburgh Pirates bats were not. The Cubs convincingly beat the Pirates 9-0 Tuesday night. The Bucs host the Cubs again tonight. Listen for the pregame show at 6:15 this evening. The first pitch of the Pirates-Cubbies game is set for 6:40 on Connect FM.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve produced a dozen hits and knocked off Akron, 10-2, Tuesday evening. Game two of the Curve-Rubber Ducks series in Altoona begins at 6pm tonight.
