Pittsburgh Pirates:
The Pittsburgh Pirates put together a 5-2 win over Toronto last night in the opener of a three game series with the Blue Jays at PNC Park.
The Bucs battle the Blue Jays again tonight. The pregame show starts at 6:15 this evening on Connect FM. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40.
Altoona Curve:
The Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve could reach the .500 mark for the season with a win tonight. The Curve are 56-and-57 overall as they head into a six-game home series against Reading this evening. Also, the Pirates organization has moved top prospect Konnor Griffin from Class A Greensboro to the Double-A Curve ahead of tonight’s game. The first pitch of the Altoona-Fightin’ Phils matchup at PNG Field is set for 6pm.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
The third and final preseason game for the Pittsburgh Steelers is coming up Thursday evening. The Steelers will take on the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. Pittsburgh’s regular season schedule begins September 7th with the New York Jets their fist opponent.
District 9 High School Football:
The 2025 District 9 High School Football season launches Friday night. The first regular season games for Tri-County area teams include Brookville hosting Keystone, Clearfield playing host to Bellwood-Antis, Curwensville traveling to Meyersdale, Karns City visitng St. Marys, and Ridgway playing at Redbank Valley. On Saturday, there will be two more season-opening games for our District 9 teams. The Brockway Rovers will take on the Chucks in Punxsutawney at 6pm. Listen to live coverage of Rovers football on Sunny 106, and watch at Tri County dot TV. Also, the DuBois Beavers host General McLane at Mansell Stadium Saturday afternoon with a 1pm kickoff.
