District 9 Baseball and Softball:

It was a mix of a few games played, and a few games postponed over the weekend:

BASEBALL – FRIDAY

The Brookville at Punxsutawney game was postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date.

BASEBALL – SATURDAY

Curwensville 10, Clarion-Limestone 0

SOFTBALL – FRIDAY

DuBois 15, Kane 0 – Elliette Brewer drove in three Lady Beavers’ runs.

Both the Forest Area at Brockway and Central Clarion at St. Marys games were postponed.

SOFTBALL – SATURDAY

Curwensville 10, Brookville 0 – Addison Siple pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12 for the Lady Tide. Siple also hit a double, scored twice, and drive in two Curwensville runs.

Penn State-DuBois Baseball and Softball:

The Penn State-DuBois baseball team won twice against Point Park Saturday, 9-2 and 6-1. Today, Penn State-DuBois is scheduled play a double-header at Penn College.

The Penn State-DuBois softball team grabbed a pair of season-opening wins on the road Saturday at Kent State-Tuscarawas, 11-6 and 4-0. Yesterday, the Lady Lions had a home double-header with Potomac State cancelled.

Penn State Wrestling:

Penn State won its fifth-straight NCAA national wrestling team championship on Saturday. The Nittany Lions also had four individual champions and set a record-high team score in the finals.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

Over the weekend, the Pittsburgh Pirates won a game and lost a game in the closing days of Spring Training in Florida. The Bucs were 8-3 winners over Toronto on Saturday, but fell to Boston, 6-3, on Sunday. The final Spring Training game will take place today when the Pirates face the Braves. The Bucs’ season-opener is Thursday. Pittsburgh begins the 2026 regular season against the Mets in New York.

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins split a pair of weekend games – winning in a shootout, 5-4, over Winipeg on Saturday; but the Pens lost Sunday, 5-1, against the division-leading Carolina Hurricanes.

The Penguins host Colorado Tuesday night. The pregame show begins at 6 tomorrow evening on Connect FM. The opening puck drop is scheduled for 7pm.
