PIAA Basketball Tournament – Semifinal Round:

Friday night, the Elk County Catholic Crusaders won their Class 1-A boys quarterfinal round contest over Erie First Christian, 58-43. Chase Simbeck netted 29 points to lead the Crusaders. The victory advances ECC into the semifinal round of the PIAA Tournament for the sixth time since 1988. Tonight, the Crusaders are set to face Neighborhood Academy, the champs of District 7, at Clarion’s Tippin gymnasium. The winning team will play for Pennsylvania’s Class 1-A championship.

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins came from behind Saturday to knock off the Utah Mammoth, 4-3.

Tonight, the Penguins will be in Colorado to battle the Avalanche. Listen for the opening puck drop at 9:30pm. The pregame show begins at 8:30 tonight on Connect FM.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

The Pittsburgh Pirates won two of their three weekend Spring Training games. The Bucs defeated Detroit Friday by a 7-5 score, and they outscored Baltimore on Saturday, 8-6. Yesterday, the Pirates fell to Tampa Bay, 6-1. This afternoon, Pittsburgh faces Minnesota to begin the final full week of Spring Training. The season-opener for the Pirates is coming up on Thursday, March 26th, when the Bucs start the 2026 regular season schedule against the Mets in New York.

Penn State-DuBois Baseball:

On Sunday, the Penn State-DuBois baseball team opened its season with a pair of double-header wins over Central Maine Community College. Penn State DuBois scored 9-8, and 11-0 victories at Showers Field in DuBois. Wednesday, Penn State DuBois is scheduled to play a pair of games at Kent State-Tuscarawas.
