District 9 / PIAA Football Playoffs

Class A: The District 9 Class A football champs, the Port Allegany Gators, came up a little short in the quarterfinal round of the PIAA playoffs Friday night. The Gators fell to District 10 champion Greenville, 36-28. Port Allegany’s Aiden Bliss turned in another outstanding rushing performance with 252 yards and four touchdowns, boosting his career numbers to 7,869 rushing yards and 123 touchdowns – both District 9 records. The Gators’ season ends with a 12-and-1 record.

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins had a tough weekend at home. The Pens lost 5-0 to the Minnesota Wild Friday at PPG Paints Arena, and then fell to the Seattle Kraken in overtime Saturday, 3-2.

Next for the Penguins is their traditional Thanksgiving Eve home game on Wednesday. Pittsburgh faces off with Buffalo at 7pm. The Pens-Sabres pregame show begins at 6pm Wednesday on Connect FM.

Pittsburgh Steelers:

The Pittsburgh Steelers dropped a 31-28 decision to the Bears in Chicago on Sunday. The loss drops Pittsburgh’s record to 6-and-5, and the Steelers are now tied for first place in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens.
