District 9 High School Football: Week 8 SCOREBOARD

Karns City 63, Brockway 27 – The Rovers were unable to overcome a 21-point surge late in the second quarter by the Gremlins, and Brockway dropped its third game of the year. Rovers quarterback Aiden Patton completed 12 passes for 189 yards and three touchdowns.

DuBois 45, Brookville 0 – Beavers quarterback Trey Wingard passed for 251 yards and four touchdowns. Three of the scoring throws were to Wingard’s favorite target, Jaxson Hanzely. Hanzely caught eight passes in the game for a total of 157 yards.

Punxsutawney 49, St. Marys 0 – The Chucks are now 8-and-0.

Clearfield 43, Somerset 14

Juniata Valley 27, Curwensville 14

Pittsburgh Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday, falling at home to the New York Rangers, 6-1.

Tomorrow night, the Pens begin a three-game road trip out West, starting in Anaheim. The Penguins-Ducks pregame show begins at 9:30 Tuesday night. The opening face-off is scheduled for 10:30.

College Football: Schedule (Saturday)

Northwestern 22, Penn State 21 – It was the third straight loss for the Nittany Lions. It was announced yesterday that Penn State Head Coach James Franklin has been fired after leading the team for the past 12 seasons.

Clarion-Penn West 48, Gannon 46

Pittsburgh Steelers:

The Pittsburgh Steelers improved to a record of 4-and-1 with a 23-9 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Pittsburgh held the Browns to just 65 yards rushing in the game. Next for the Steelers is a Thursday night game at Cincinnati.
