Pittsburgh Pirates:

The red hot Pittsburgh Pirates, fresh off a series sweep in San Francisco, open a three-game series in Denver tonight. The Bucs take on the Colorado Rockies at 8:10 tonight. The Pirates-Rockies pregame show begins at 7:45 on Connect FM.

The Pirates made two more trade deals at the deadline Thursday. Longtime Buccos closer David Bednar was dealt to the New York Yankees for three position player prospects, including catcher and first baseman Rafael Flores, the Yanks number 8 prospect. Pittsburgh also sent starting pitcher Bailey Falter to Kansas City. In return, the Bucs get pitcher Evan Zisk, and first baseman Callan Moss.

Altoona Curve:

The Pittsburgh Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve was on the short end of a 2-1 decision in Portland, Maine yesterday, The Curve and Sea Dogs are scheduled to play game four of the six-game set tonight with the first pitch at 6pm.

Pittsburgh Steelers:

Training Camp for the Pittsburgh Steelers continues at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe. There will be a public practice and workout for the Steelers under the lights at 7 this evening. Pittsburgh’s first pre-season game will be at Jacksonville on Saturday, August 9th.
