District 9 / PIAA Baseball and Softball Playoffs:

There are four District 9 teams advanced into the quarterfinal round of the PIAA baseball and softball playoffs, and all four are scheduled to play tomorrow.

In the Class A baseball playoffs, Clarion will face Greensburg Central Catholic Thursday afternoon at Slippery Rock University.

In Class 2A, Redbank Valley will play Freedom in the quarterfinal round. That game is set to begin at 11 tomorrow morning, also at Slippery Rock.

In the PIAA softball playoffs, the DuBois Central Catholic Lady Cardinals will go up against Union Area of New Castle Thursday afternoon at Slippery Rock University.

The St. Marys Lady Dutch represent District 9 in the Class 3A softball playoffs Thursday afternoon. The quarterfinal round opponent for St. Marys is Bald Eagle Area, and they will play at Heindl Field in DuBois.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

Another outstanding pitching performance by Paul Skenes went to waste as the Pittsburgh Pirates got shut out by Houston last night, 3-0.

The first pitch of tonight’s Bucs-Astros game at PNC Park is scheduled for 6:40pm. Tune in for the pregame show on Connect FM this evening at 6:15.

Altoona Curve:

The Pittsburgh Pirates’ Double-A affiliate Altoona Curve were blanked in New Hampshire Tuesday night, 4-0. Game two of the Curve’s Eastern League series with the Fisher Cats is scheduled for 6:35 this evening.
